At Pilgrim Uniting Church, we are simply a group of people journeying together in God’s intimate, compassionate, all-embracing love through all of the ups and downs that life brings our way.
Our differences from one another in age, gender, culture, ethnicity, stage in the journey, background, temperament, beliefs etc. are all seen as God’s gifts to us through which we shape – together – an authentic, caring, and courageous faith community.
As Jesus kept inviting others in,
we believe that we can always make the circle wider –
that there is room for all around God’s table.
Our all-in service takes place from 10a.m. to 11a.m. on Sundays with a combination of old and new songs (some in different languages) to reflect the different generations that gather. Children are welcome in our midst with stories and activities in the sanctuary as part of our worship, as well as a lovely cushioned area on which the really “littlies” can play and crawl. Afterwards, many people stay for a cuppa and to catch up with one another.
Morning tea happens in different ways after our services: sometimes with bring-and-share plates in the foyer, sometimes in other people’s homes (like the early church!), sometimes across the road at the Coffee Club as part of our lively and thriving community. On communion Sundays, the service is followed by lunch together.
Our major missional projects on site are Carevan and Boomerang Bags, though there are a number of other groups that meet on a weekly basis (see our Calendar for more details) and the space is available for hire (contact the Team Ministry Centre if you are interested in making a booking).
We would love to journey with you so that life can be what God means it to be – loving, purposeful, joyful, and eternal.
If you would like to have a conversation about the Christian faith, blessing of a new home, baptisms or baby-blessing/baby-naming ceremonies, prayer at the end of an important relationship, funerals, weddings, renewal of wedding vows, or if you would like to find out more about joining our community please fill out the form below so that we can get in touch with you.
Every believer was faithfully devoted to following the teachings of the apostles. Their hearts were mutually linked to one another,
sharing communion and coming together regularly for prayer.A deep sense of holy awe swept over everyone,
and the apostles performed many miraculous signs and wonders. All the believers were in fellowship as one body,
and they shared with one another whatever they had.
Out of generosity they even sold their assets to distribute the proceeds to those who were in need among them.Daily they met together in the temple courts and
in one another’s homes to celebrate communion.
They shared meals together with joyful hearts and tender humility. They were continually filled with praises to God,
Acts 2:42-47
enjoying the favour of all the people. And the Lord kept adding to their number daily those who were coming to life.
